Day 17 - Favorite mini series: Elizabeth I (2005)

This was a really amazing HBO miniseries starring Dame Helen Mirren as Good Queen Bess (which she won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for), and she knocks it out of the park, of course.  Also, Jeremy Irons was Robert/Robin Dudley Earl of Leicester (her long-time emotional lover), and Hugh Dancy was the ( Read more... )

I love Stiglitz the most when he's playing off of Hicox. I'm not even sure why, but the "WTF, idiot" looks he gives him are priceless. Not even in a shippy way, but I wish we'd gotten more of that. Stiglitz is pretty intriguing a character overall, though.

What I love about the Doctor as a single character (as opposed to breaking him down into specific incarnations) is how dynamic he is. He changes, not just from incarnation to incarnation, which is obvious, but, like early S1 Nine is different from late S1 Nine, and Ten goes through a whole swath of personality shift. It's character growth and even when it goes in not so pleasant directions (Ten's god complex, for instance), it always rings pretty true. Plus I do love seeing how each regeneration kind of is a reaction to the previous one.

I think I'm gonna nead to see at least the A-Team movie- you definitely make Murdock sound worthy of the effort, as well as him being played by.. that guy from District 9.

The Doctor is an amazing character for sure. Think of what a challenge and gift it is to the people who write him, to make him recognizably the Doctor but at the same time develop a new personality for each regeneration. I don't think there's a single other character ever who has that aspect.

Yeah, he's worth the effort. I was mainly talking about the TV version (played be Dwight Schultz, who was Lt. Barclay on Star Trek: The Next Generation), but Sharlto Copley (the District 9 guy) is super adorable, too. Actually, Sharlto was an A-Team fanboy when he was ten years old, which is probably why he's so awesome.

WORD. I kind of have to run right now.

Aww, I used to love that Anne of Green Gables miniseries! I think I still have my VHS tape of it lying around in a box somewhere. :P

P.S. Second ALL your comments about The Doctor. Right on.
