I'm definitely one for cheese, but my favorite is an obscure piece of cheese--- Battle Royale. This is a Japanese B-Movie, which was, last I heard, not being distributed in the US at all. In it, a class of Japanese high school kids are forced to fight to the death until only one is left because "the kids these days are no good."

Battle Royale definatly has a cult following in the US. I pirated my copy off a DVD from Netflix. At that time you couldn't get it anywhere else in the US, but now I see several DVD releases on Amazon. Battle Royale 2 wasn't as good.

I was cheering for the one who through out her weapons in the beginning because killing her fellow students disgusted her.

Did you get the director's cut? Get the director's cut. It's worth it.
I actually haven't seen 2, although my gaming buddy has the exact opposite view on 1 vs. 2 from you. Given the usual difference between his taste & mine, I'll probably agree with you.
