Oh, fandom...

I love how Pixiv's Daily Ranking is dominated by Durarara!! arts already, especially the Shizaya ones. There are seven or eight fanarts of them in the first page (top 50) of the chart already, ahahaha. This has never happened before in Pixiv! I mean, Pixiv ranking is about cute, moe, cute, Vocaloid, more moe, K-ON, and yuri most of the time. Nice ( Read more... )

shizaya, kamiya hiroshi, lockonxtieria, spoiler is a no-no, bakemonogatari, reo hates spoilers, ono daisuke, durarara!!, suzumiya haruhi, pixiv, !public

Of course the awesome seiyuus, but the manga was out a few months before it. If I remember, there was also a con during the summer time which had some doujin and so, its not the anime. Anime brought in new fans as well.

The anime bought it a LOT of new fans then - oh goodness, I can't possibly describe how amused I am to browse Pixiv today. They were full of moe art just a month ago. Now everything is different and Shizaya can be found everywhere. xD;

Any chance that it's Comiket?

Mighty interesting to see what catches the fan's eyes. Of course we all have our pervydark sides me more than others, but nothing more refreshing than two psychos going at it X3'

Why, I believe that's the one 8D' Unless they call their smaller versions by a different name. Then again, I never knew that Montreal had a con as well =w=;

I became a fan of those two as a pairing because of Pixiv, and now I fear I might be disappointed by the story ;;; I'm excited to keep watching.

I didn't join any DRRR!! comm to avoid spoilers. People can be so blunt and care very little for what others have or have not seen.

Do you download DRRR!! with English subtitles? If that's the case... May I ask where?

From what I heard, if it follows Baccano's example - the story is supposed to get even better later. *w*

Oh. The comm itself is quite safe, as long as you don't click into stuffs that are labeled with spoilers (or any kind of art and fic post that looks suspicious). I was just googling episode reviews and discussions in forums because I like to see what other people think of the episode, or if they would point out any details that I missed - but meh, some people just have to ruin the fun. Now I learned that Random Curiosity's comments are not safe, or people are just ignorant to use the spoiler tag in forums when it was obviously spoilers =.=;;

Nope! I usually get the Chinese ones. Did you check Tokyotosho? Or you can go watch it online at Anilinkz.

I've been observing pixiv for... more than a year now, I think, so obviously I noticed that too. 7-8/50? It's still nothing, one day there were 26/50 Shizaya fanarts in the first page. Oh boy, it made me laugh so hard. But people are already complaing about all the hype, but personally I'm VERY much satisfied. Yeah, it's mostly because I -do- slash Izaya and Shizuo, but still - isn't it nice to see that this GOOD anime is getting popular? (Especially after Baccano! that was so underrated in Japan, goddamn). Thanks to that DVD sales will be (most likely) very good = higher chances of 2nd season.

You forgot about HETALIA HETALIA HETALIA HETALIA in pixiv rankings.

So... why do I slash them? Well, you'll see, I guess. I have my own interpretation of Izaya's attitude towards Shizu-chan, he's so freaking tsundere about him. And hatesex / foe yay has always been hot. Admit it. ;>

26/50?! Are you serious? Wow, that must have beaten all records ever since Pixiv's creation. Even with all the hype that K-On/Lucky Star/Vocaloid/Bakemonogatari/Pokemon/blah started earlier, no single series had ever dominated the Daily Ranking to this extent as far as my memory recalls. If so, I can see why people would complain - whenever a series gets insanely popular in a short period of time, opposers always rise. Heck, I was also one of the people who complained about the moe titles mentioned above, even though I like cute shows and enjoy their art. It simply bothers me that Pixiv's ranking is too series-oriented at times, rather than basing on the actual quality of the artwork.

Oh yes, Helalia too. But I thought it was never as dominant in Pixiv as, say, K-On - but maybe it's just because I don't know the series well enough to recognize its art from just the thumbnails orz.

I can definitely see why are people getting so shippy about them, haha. What I don't get is why everyone is shipping them all this sudden out of all ( ... )

Yup. Today there are 'only' 17/50 DRRR fanarts in the daily ranking...
I don't really care about all that domination stuff, I can accept anything as long as it's pretty (I'm just shallow like that). Besides, I'm in no position to complain and just can't imagine telling one of these fanartist 'no no, you shouldn't draw Shizaya, pixiv is already full of them'... why would they even care about it?
But yeah, if I were one of these people who spend TENS of hours on every piece of artwork and and then saw my pictures getting beat up by messy doodles of Shizaya... I guess I'd feel quite desperate.

I don't get it either, but oh well. Japan is just weird like that~

And you should watch Baccano, really, it's AWESOME. And not that underrated outside of Japan (ranked #23 in MAL's ranking; compare Baccano's and 00's statistics).

oh, and... I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THE TEXTURE YOU USED IN YOUR CURRENT LAYOUT ♥♥♥

Ships will be shipped no matter how much interaction there is - in anime or manga. And yeah, as others are saying, the manga/novels did come before the anime by a little bit. I think maybe the voice cast was catered to the original uh "pairing" more than the pairing spawning out of the cast.

Me, I'm not a guy/guy shipper in the slightest, however I do adore their interactions like mad and it's awesome to see them animated, even if in a measly 5 minute segment.

True, but I still wonder why does it have to be Shizaya and Durarara out of all...things. I know their interaction so far was quite memorable, but I am curious what else about them is getting everyone this hyped all this sudden *w* I guess I will wait and see. May I ask approximately how far ahead is the manga/novel than the anime at this moment? Does it have enough material to be animated for 26 episodes?

Definitely agree with this, though I'm still amazed what a great lineup of seiyuu DRRR hired - the males can all easily land a lead role in a popular title nowadays, and then there are the new generation of females like Hanazawa and Tomatsu who have been appearing in everywhere lately @w@ And if I'm not mistaken, Ono/Kamiya is definitely one of the most slashed seiyuu pairings around today. I'm sure their fans are happy now, ah...I rewatched those 5 minutes so many times that it's not funny anymore. Episode 3 is still my favourite ( ... )

GOD YES. They thought with all the fame and hardcore fans gained over the years they could get away with Endless Eight and still top the charts nonetheless, but boo, wrong. And I'm glad that they were wrong. It's just plain acceptable to me that the company (or Kadokawa) is trolling the fans intentionally to see how loyal they really are, thinking they are at the top of everything. Unfortunately the Haruhi sales are actually not too disastrous - it's down by about 1/3 compared to the first season, but darn, it's still selling way better than other series like FMA.

Come on KyoAni. We all know you can be godly when you are serious.
Though it's still bothering me that they have been pretty much staying in their comfort zones these few years. I mean, I seriously would like to see them animating something that isn't all about moe moe moe for once :/
