Restraint
Under different circumstances, Jack considers, this could have been fun.
His nose itches, counterpoint to the slow burn in his shoulders and the prickle of sweat along his wrists. He's put himself in more uncomfortable positions for work and for play. He'll cope.
Despite it all, the ache in his body and the cold fury in his mind, he doesn't let himself drift. He notices everything, from the positions of the guards to the way they stand, to the tension in the chains. When the time comes, he'll be ready.
And then he can have his fun. And his revenge.
