There has been a lot of info coming to light in the Expat Blogisphere here in Korea about the whole mad cow panic. While the core of Korean's beliefs about the dangers of US Beef are informed by nationalistic and wild rumors, I think there are a lot of expats that have an equally knee jerk reaction and deride the Koreans audacity at asserting self-determination. I know that the more I look into it, the more I get pissed off that Koreans are being egged on to collective action by complete Bull Shit (pun intended)
Their president is a D-bag, their education system and economy need a lot of work, and consumer prices are rising quickly. But all they seem to care about is US beef. Anyways I noticed that its been on CNN and they unfairly showed footage that would make one thing that there are wild riots in the streets. The actually situation is quite the opposite the protests have been overwhelmingly peaceful, as this video of Korean HS students throwing snacks at police shows. This blog by a Korean-American will give all of you in the US a thoughtful insight into what is going on in the minds of my coworkers and neighbors.
