They are. Oft made of fine stone and mortar, but- fate as it is- bedding must suffice.

They are usually quite large, correct? And thus... whoever builds them must be extremely wealthy?

'Tis so, they're fashioned at a lord's expense. They're more oft used as a last resort for battle, as a retreat, to safeguard the impor people while the soldiers cross swords.
