Greek Mythology - Pomegranate

Title: Pomegranate
Rating: PG
Summary: Re-interpreting the Persephone/Hades myth again, though this is less experimental than my other attempts. The prompt was "pomegranate".
Author's note: A little thing written for the lovely geekmama on the occasion of her birthday yesterday!

Most excellent--I hadn't given much thought to any conversation--always considered the story sad and somewhat sexist...but this--yeah, I like that this tiny little woman slid one past, got over on and she doesn't exactly gloat, but she lets him sort of realize that she's no slouch--that she's a force to be contended with as well, equal to his big bluff fierce self!!--yeah!!!

Pretty pretty thoughtful image of eating the fruit, the taste of it and the seeds, shiny as jewels, that's right!!!

There's a reason I feel a need to put another spin on the story :-) And what you said about Persephone, yes, exactly, and I'm delighted that came across.

Thanks so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it, and for commenting so quickly, too!

You have this light touch, a facility for building the framework on which I can supply the rest--
you place the reader exactly where you would have us look and then graciously allow the rest of the miracle to happen. This is the best, makes me work a bit for my pleasure, not a bad thing at all. Love it that you trust your readers to follow the thread.

It made my day to know that you think so. Thank you, truly, for telling me.

What pearlseed said - truly lovely and evocative, especially the rind split open, her hands stained red, and the taste, so sharp in her mouth. “Six seeds, shiny as jewels.”

I love this spin ♥

Read it again and again, and pearlseed is right, you make us see these characters with new eyes. It's all so visual, just brilliantly done. Thank you again for this sweet gift.
