Have spent most of the past week thinking about BtVS. Watched "Lessons," discussed with Heather aka renenet, rewatched, discussed with S., and, most recently, have been working on two -- count 'em, two -- academic projects involving the show: an article and an abstract, both due on Tuesday ( Read more... )

My slacker tendencies and my perfectionist tendencies do not go together very well

I laughed out loud when I read this. It's so very me. At this very moment I need to be working on two presentations, a paper on Reactive Attachment Disorder, and numerous smaller academic items, yet what am I doing? Playing with LJ.
Later I will be working insane hours to make sure these tasks are done perfectly.
Why do I do this to myself?

This is half my life's work, this written critical analysis thing....But it seems like the process should get easier, and thus far, to my perpetual dismay, it has not.Once during the summer I was chatting amidst a group of faculty members from various departments (English, History, Rhet Comp...can't remember where else) and the conversation turned to their own writing processes and it sounded painful. I mean, they looked pained, they sounded pained, it was all about the pain. It may not be a cheery thought, but if it's not a process that gets easier, at least you're not alone in that ( ... )
