Fist and foremost: Happy b-day, sweetie. Hope it's the kind of birthday you like, whether it's curling up alone on the settee with butternut squash risotto (own harvest, naturally) and fan fic, having a casual dinner with some friends or a heresluck birthday party extra-vaganca. May the next year bring a lot of good things amongst all that stressful adulting, including good health, exciting opportunities and loyal frinds. Plus lots of vidding mojo (and time) and a super-sized harvest (and no slugs ( ... )

Aww, thank you! So far my birthday is kind of a bust, but I am used to celebrating my birthday on days other than the actual day, so no worries. I should have some time for fun next weekend.

And your leaky roof metaphor is perfect -- yes, that's it exactly. And yes, I need to learn to focus on all the water that IS in the pots. *makes note to self*

Happy belated birthday, I hope you had a good one. (massive bday hugs)

Being a grown up is so damn hard, and you are waaaaaay more of a grown up than I ever want to be. Keep your chin up, honey! IMO, you are an excellent grown up, and a wonderful example to all of your students on how to do it right.

MWAH!

Not belated at all -- right on time. :D

And thank you so much for your kind words, and for your reminder that what I do has meaning, even if it's frustrating in the moment. I needed that today. *hugs*

Tell me about it. Still, despite all the stress with juggling of responsibilities, it sounds like some cool life changes and awesome things are on horizon for you, so yay on that front! It's less yay that these things actually take a metric fuckton of work, but whaddaya gonna do? *more sigh*

During busy times, my fandom participation dwindles down to checking Tumblr on my phone while waiting for the elevator to come (I spend A LOT of time waiting for elevators at work) and queuing things half-heartedly, but it's not the same as writing things up on LJ and interacting, is it? Still, it's better than having no fannish outlet at all, I suppose.

Here's hoping that balance and serenity are around the corner not too far away...

It's probably good that I haven't figured out how to queue Tumblr reblogs from my phone, ahahaha. *facepalm*

I long for sabbatical. And it's coming, it is! But between work stuff and home ownership, some days just getting out of bed feels like an accomplishment. Oy.
