quiet weekend, with dinner party

I haven't had a proper dinner party in ages, so last night was fun; I had a couple of local friends over, we made a fire in the fireplace (the cats approved), we hung out chatting and drinking the first half of a bottle of wine before we even got to the food

This sounds delightful! That dinner is fabulous - and today's menu sounds delicious, also. My condolences on 16 below. I just went out grocery shopping and was wondering how warm it was, because I was sweating inside my coat, and didn't need my gloves, or a hat. I got home and checked - 14 degrees. This is that moment where you realize living in the midwest can seriously fuck a person up :D

The stew was awesome! Daube Provencal, which I have not made before, but you may be sure I will again. Om nom nom.

And I had THAT EXACT EXPERIENCE with the weather this morning: I went outside all bundled up in my sleeping-bag coat and thought GOOD GOD IT'S BALMY OUT, and then my iPod told me it was in fact 15 degrees! above zero! with no wind chill whatsoever! I went back in and switched coats, because come on, it's practically shorts weather! :D
