how h.l got her groove back

Since getting back from WisCon on Wednesday night I've been unable to garden - too rainy - and thus have mostly been reading instead, though this weekend that needs to shift to vidding. WisCon was fun, though I often find that the fun for me lies less in the con itself than in the chance to see a lot of people I like, hang out in Madison, eat good ( Read more... )

Awww they sound great! I would recommend to the girl who wanted to take too many classes that if she REALLY wanted to take extra ones, just learn it on her own. But doing other things is good too. It is always nice to rediscover what you're good at :)

There is only so much time in a day, sadly. Being burned out by all the text at work is perfectly understandable.

The temptation to abduct him and give him a haircut and a cookie was very strong. He was just EXACTLY like my high school friends. Except apparently smarter. *g*

Ahahahahaha. Yes. Somehow I am not surprised that you identify with these two types. I was more like Iconoclast Boy myself -- very, very far from an overachiever! -- but with some of the geeky enthusiasm of the third girl.

I was also one point away from testing out of FYC and I retook the test to get that point. Now I wish I hadn't, because taking that course would have been immensely helpful to me. Having taught it *myself* now, I can say this with confidence!

Yeah; I hear this kind of comment a lot from my best students in advanced writing classes. But of course it's not terribly convincing to a matriculating student under the impression that he already knows all there is to know about writing for school.

I really do enjoy WisCon; but yeah.

And oh, STUDENTS. They are so adorable. Especially the ones who would scowl at me for calling them adorable.

I would have a hard time resisting rumpling their hair or something awful like that.
