I have grading to do. I have conference notes to write up. I am mildly inspired to work on a new scholarly project, which is about 500% more inspired than I've been about any scholarly project since truepenny and I wrote that Firefly paper several years ago. I also have a vid to make for Club Vivid, and a folder of half-written posts on everything from ( Read more... )

we caught S&A 1 on Sundance last year - and found it was very addictive. We even sent away to Japan so we could see Season 2 (and not have to wait the extra year). Go Geoffrey!

GEOFFREY!

Addictive really is the word, although I have to admit that thus far I prefer S1 to S2.

Heh. Well, what does "supposed to" have to do with fandom, anyway?

With fandom? Very little. With the VVC Club Vivid deadline? Everything, dammit. Heh.

Slings & Arrows! I'm so glad you've fallen for it. I adore that show like nothing else. How much of the show have you watched so far?

And yes -- I am tempted to say that in the realm of "characters played by Paul Gross" I love Geoffrey Tennant a little bit more than Benton Fraser, because there's something so delightfully out of control about him. He's hilarious and heartbreaking at once.

I'm 3 eps into S2, and still loving it; I prefer S1 so far, but that's at least partly because I prefer Hamlet to Macbeth. Also the advertising subplot amuses me less than S1's corporate coup subplot did.

...there's something so delightfully out of control about him.

Yes! I love not knowing what he's going to do next (and yet knowing that whatever it is will probably cause tremendous awkwardness -- heh).

Whee! Fannish love!

This show makes me feel all giddy inside. I cannot take my eyes off Geoffrey Tennant every second that he's onscreen. He's so refreshingly honest; he says what he thinks, and he *feels* every moment as deeply and truly as he can, and he doesn't care a fig for rules or politeness or bureaucratic bullshit, and oh, he's just delightful to watch. I've rarely met a character who is more alive than Geoffrey.

You know about melancholydanes, yes? It's been kinda quiet, but I'm hoping that the recent airing of S2 in the States will change that.

GEOFFREY! Man, it's been a while since I was so completely gone on a character -- especially a male character.

I did find melancholydanes, yes; right now I think I'm in the private glee phase, but when I hit the point of wanting to blither about the show with other people I will no doubt show up to, well, blither. *g*

Mmm. I do adore S&A. I keep meaning to try to hook yaoobruni on it.

I've been given S2 on tape, but our vcr isn't working; one of these days I shall have to beg someone to burn it to dvd for me...

Anyway. I'm not surprised that you're digging it. It's wonderful.
