in which our narrator contemplates the endlessly receding horizon

A few weeks ago I cleaned up my Books To Get list and found, to my delight, that I'd actually made a dent in it. It was still a long list (six pages, single-spaced, 10pt Times New Roman), but several focused trips to bookstores and some judicious borrowing from truepenny had allowed me to cross off quite a lot.

In theory, there is no such thing. In practice, however, we have a) my bank balance; b) the finite number of hours in the day; and c) my fondness for such time-sucking enterprises as LJ and vidding.

I'm not *complaining* about there being Too Many Books. I love having too many books, which is why I have piles of them sitting around my house unread. Heh.

Yeah, I bet. You and melymbrosia both.

Of course, I can blame the list on other people, but the greediness and tendency to lose all financial sense when standing in a used bookstore are, sadly, all my own.

No, I'm not.

You should post your list(s).

Of course you're unrepentant. You are The First Evil of book-list additions. Mer will have to do a hell of a lot more posts before she even attains minion status.

As for posting my list, no way. Between the "you haven't read [x]?!" and the "oh, but you must also read [y]!" I suspect I would end up both embarrassed and (more) broke.

Glad to see someone with a list as long as my own. Is it strictly fiction? Or do you have poetry, drama, & assorted non-fic works on the list as well?

Very interesting.

I usually go over my main list & try to come up with a yearly reading list that's balanced across the topics...but I tend to go in spurts & read a bunch of one category before moving on to the next. Kind of like how you eat a ton of fresh strawberries when the season comes in, then you move on to the next fruit or veggie.

Right. There. Behind whatever you're hiding behind to block my view. You can't escape my state of the art geek-detection system. The nose knows.
