Where a fox shows restraint

I just twitched reading a tweet from someone about buying biscuit mix. I wanted to comment "why would you do that when biscuits are so easy" but I refrained so as to not come across as a cooking snob.

I should get a cookie.

I have to admit having pancake mix in my kitchen. *sideways glance* Though in my defense, it's oat bran pancake mix, not exactly something I could easily whip up.

Normal biscuits require 4 ingredients (five if you're making buttermilk and don't have any on hand) all of which are common to kitchens of people who cook. And take just as much time to make from scratch as from a mix, really...you can have them done in 20 minutes.

I don't understand biscuit mix :-)

This is what food processors are for :-) Or pastry blenders.

Southern (aka self-rising) flour, vegetable shortening, and buttermilk -- yum!

It's easy for you because you know how, and have the kitchen equipment to help. ;)
