I liked the book well enough... but I love the musical! :)

Haha! Your icon is SO much more appropriate - really, it's kind of ridiculous for me to use an icon with Dorothy and "Dodo," but it's the only Oz one I have. :D

Just keep listening.... :)

Also, I think I meant more that you would like Elphaba more after seeing it, and seeing that she is not *bad*, more than you would identify with her so much. Anyway, glad you liked it!!! :)

Saw the musical in NYC when I went in 2006 to hear a JKR reading. Amazing! Then I read the book. Meh. Then I read the sequel. Meh squared! Then I took L to see it here. Not quite as good (mostly because of the scenery and in a multi-use theater rather than at its home theater) but still wonderful.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Got cheap tix ($15 a piece) in the early 90's when Phantom was in SF so I took a bunch of different people to see it. 8 times. :) It was really good. Saw it in London and was less than impressed. If you go to London, see Les Mis. Very cool.

Only two shows I've ever walked out on? (Yeah, I know, you didn't ask but few post about musical theater on LJ so this is my shot to give them a shot) Cabaret and Miss Saigon. Nothing that objectionable but if I want to be depressed at the theater...I'll go to a play! (And, fyi, Les Mis...despite the story...is uplfiting and not derpessing, to me, at all).

And...even though it's a Disney show...The Lion King rocked!

Yay, I'm glad you liked it! I like the book for the most part but have some specific issues with it, and I feel the same way about the musical. For instance, I think the musical "fixes" a lot of the book's focus issues by zooming in on Elphaba and Glinda, and the Fiyero thing makes more sense (sort of). But I really don't like that Elphaba and Fiyero live! It totally cheapens the rest of it for me. :-/

i wasn't too into the book, either. in fact, i couldn't even get through the whole thing. >_< but the musical was a lot of fun, i just wish there could have been some way for me to see it with idina menzel as elphaba!

oooh, is your 'defy gravity' shirt dark green-ish with a silhouette of elphaba on it? if so, i have the same one =]
