The "lyrics" to Freude schöner Götterfunken is a poem by Friedrich Schiller.... Beethoven composed the music to it a bit later!:-)

I have a dance that goes along with the first Bass solo in the Choral Finale. It really isn't so much a dance as me wiggling around in a funny little way. But it is mine.

I KNOW! Plus, what about those 1,500 people who apparently just scarpered off to . . . well . . . who KNOWS where? Did they actually drown? Maybe it's a Bermuda Triangle thing? (Although I'm pretty sure the Bermuda Triangle isn't in the North Atlantic . . . I'm thinking it's somewhere else. Maybe closer to, say, Bermuda)? Bwah!

Definitely a WTF moment. Maybe I will read the book - it might have additional humor value if I actually knew what the hell he was talking about. :D
