Books #90 - 100

Oct 02, 2006 19:10

Since I set a goal for myself of reading 100 books this year, this also means I've completed that goal (and checked it off over at 43 Things). Of course, I've got no intention of stopping reading, just because I've hit 100 this year. :D

90. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar
91. I Can Be an Archaeologist
92. Encyclopedia Brown and the Treasure Read more... )

43 things, books

Congrats! I'm ashamed to say I'm barely at 50 books.

Also, do you have any books in particular you recommend reading with a six year old?

Hmnh - well, it depends on the six-year-old. Some things I've really enjoyed reading aloud are the "Bunnicula" books, and "James and the Giant Peach" or "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" are also great. I'll let you know if I think of any others we really loved. :)

I meant to mention this before - Run, don't walk, and get yourself and Connor a copy of Motel of the Mysteries by David McCauley (not sure about the spelling on the last name). It's the book that convinced me I wanted to be an anthropologist when I grew up. My 6th grade teachers read it out loud to the class and gave us a chance to speculate on and discuss the discoveries on each page. I think it'd fit right in w/ the history/archaeology focus you guys have going :)

Heh - only a month and a half after you made this comment, I'm actually responding . . .

We checked this out of the library, but haven't had a chance to read it together yet. It looks SUPER COOL, though - in fact, I think I'll probably send the library copy back and just buy one of our own. I think it's also a book I'll want to share with our homeschooling book club. So, thanks! :)

He really liked the Encyclopedia Brown book that we read, so yes! We'd love them if you're giving them away! Could you bring them to the November meet-up for us? I'll make sure that we come to that one. :)
