Me, too - I totally adore labyrinths, and I'm glad this one is coming together so nicely. Really, after I decided to do it, I thought that maybe I was insane, since I thought it was going to turn into somewhat of a huge nightmare. But really, so far it's been very easy and fun!
Also, making mental note that you like labyrinths. *giggles in a happy, holiday sort of way, and hopes that you will have TOTALLY forgotten this conversation by the time December rolls around).
Thanks! I'm really pleased that it didn't turn out to be the huge nightmare I expected it to be. Well, not so far, anyway. I suppose I shouldn't count my chickens JUST yet. :D And I love the picture of him, too - he looks so sweet and earnest. He loves labyrinths, too - in fact, while I was working on the one for the school, he drew one in chalk on the driveway. He knows how to do it by heart now. SO sweet!
Oh, good. I'm glad it's not just me. Part of me feels like I'm being kind of bitchy about it, but some of those kids honestly don't so anything other than scribble with their crayons. (Heh - maybe I shouldn't admit this; doesn't say much about my sk1llz as an art teacher, eh)? :D But really - if someone sits down and just starts scribbling, I'm going to freak out. So, I think I'll figure out a way that every child can do a BIT of colouring - WELL SUPERVISED - and then the ones who are actually able to stay inside the lines can do more if they like. But I think that Connor and I will probably colour a bunch of it this weekend. Because, there is a LOT of colouring to be done - a two-inch wide stripe that's got to be several dozen feet long. I don't know exactly how long, but you can see from the photo. That's a lot of colouring! :D
Yes, and some of them might actually purposefully do something funky and opposite to your directions. Not that they're bad or anything, just I remember how a few of them were very much into doing their own thing, despite what the lesson was or what you asked for. I think your solution sounded good....to see who was willing to do what you asked and you could trust not to make a dogs breakfast out of it. :)
I have a friend who specializes in photographing labyrinths. She might be interested in doing some photography when it's ready. Are you interested in being put in touch?
