Hey, everyone! Remember this post, where I wondered just where Speedy might be headed next? Well, the mystery about "SA" has been solved . . . he's in South Africa!
WHOO HOO! A third continent for our world-traveling dinosaur. This is so cool. :)
What would be really cool would be if someone could take it to a dinosaur dig in Africa. A paleontologist named Paul Soreno seems to be the guy that keeps leading dino digs in Africa.
You know, I read an article on geocaching in the papers a few weeks ago and thought it sounded interesting. I thought about giving it a go, but I'm not very fit and wouldn't have a clue where to get a GPSr
I really enjoy geocaching, and it's a great thing to do with my son, too. (For a little while, at least - he's not happy about all-day excursions, but he loves to go on a few short hikes now and again). I also found it a good way to get in better shape - usually, the cache description will describe the hike to the cache (and not all caches even require any hiking - there are caches in urban areas, too, like WalMart parking lots and such).
I'm not sure about store chains in Australia for finding a GPSr, but you can easily buy them online - just Google GPSr or Garmin or Magellan (those are two of the biggest brand names), and you should find a place. That's how the guy I know in Australia who introduced me to geocaching bought his. (Yep! The first time I ever went geocaching it was in Australia - we did two caches along the Murray River, and another one at a park in Adelaide).
You can get more info at www.geocaching.com - and feel free to ask me if you have any other questions. :)
