I... don't know. I've been kinda into Vocaloid stuff for awhile, but I'm more interested in it from a raw creation aspect, and how easy it is for Random Person X to make their own music (media degree over here) and also how Miku is perhaps the first virtual idol programmed solely by fans.

Actual Vocaloid fandom sort of escapes me, though.

(And I think UTAU is even more amazing - it's a freeware version of the same program where anyone can make a voice bank and 'character' to upload and let others create with.)

Well, the idea of creating your own music with a program's not that new to me. I remember doing something similar with a SNES game called Mario Paint. That shit was fun. =D

I just don't understand the hype that's all. Let alone the fact that there's slash and porn for it. =|

*grins* I think everyone had that. And there were programs like Mixmaster which some of us used for demo tapes that may still be floating around, ohgods, but yeah, cute-mascot+pixiv+nico-video=phenomenon.

I really just like the music and some of the PVs. And hey, Rule 34, I guess? At one of the cons I went to last year, there were just piles of Vocaloid doujinshi.

Maybe it's just one of those things, like OS-tan, that just happens?
