Deer Hunting Season

I asked some guys today to explain deer hunting to me.  Not just why they like it, but the logistics of it (what do you do if you actually shoot a deer?  how do you move it? where do you put it?).

Still, I do not understand.

Certain kinds of killing make sense to me.  There's a spider in my bed--kill it!  Sure, it may eat other insects I don't ( Read more... )

i am all for killing things that, unless we weed out some of their population, they will die an unpleasant death of starvation because of overpopulation.

i think there might have to be a "me or it" quality to any potential me-killing-animal scenario.

no, there would definitely have to be a "me or it" scenario. or, i suppose, in all cases except with spiders or insects that happen upon me unawares. like if i am lying in bed. or trying to study in my room.

Having gone through hunter's ed to get my hunting license, I can most confidently say that is for population control and to help prevent the onset of chronic wasting disease. I also love venison. ^_^

As for the "how" portion, I'll let yo know next season if I actually get one. Once you do shoot one (gun or arrow) you essentially take it on a sled type thing to a weighing station and register that you have shot your deer for the season and know how big it is. You can then either butcher it yourself or take it some place to have it butchered. Just make sure from the trip from the woods to your truck and your truck to the butcher, it stays clean and cold.

Alright, nerd session done. ^_^
