Valentine's Day

Feb 14, 2007 00:10

Why did people decide that the heart was the love-center of the body? Sure it is close to the center of the body and it is what gets the blood pumping, but isn't love more like something the brain is in control of? Or what about the lips? The neck? The genitals? Lust sure gets the blood pumping too ( Read more... )

Do you actually believe that garbage? That is really sad. Once you find someone, you'll be singing a different tune.

I only say it as I see it. Well at least as I've experienced it.

And I can't say I don't hope that will happen someday.

No way, you too Risa? Valentine's Day isn't THAT bad. And love... it's gotta be more than just that! Totally! I mean like... well... what about families and stuff? It's a different kind of love, but that can't all be chemicals too, right? Man...

Not all families love each other. Some leave their children, or kick them out of the house without thinking twice about it. Love of family is an obligation to most, or expected.

Most people who say they are in love don't mean it, or at least don't know if they do. The words and the symbols are just a round-about way of saying "My hormones lead me to think that you would be an ideal mating partner because I am physically attracted to you. Let's get it on."

Don't remind me...

I guess maybe I just want to think of it that way. It seems... I dunno... kinda cold to take such a... science-ey approach to it, right? Can't hurt to believe that maybe there's more to it?

You too? Never would have guessed, you're so well-adjusted. And hopeful.

I prefer not to get my hopes up for something that may never happen.

No way, love goes beyond physical. Love is about caring for another person, going out of your way to make sure that someone else's basic physical and emotional needs are more than satisfied before you remember to think about your own. Love is about protection, and about living, and about friendship and about so many other things. Sex doesn't even need to factor into the equation.

Good argument. Orihime's lucky to have a best friend like you.

I'm talking more about so-called romantic love, not emotional attachment. The kind of feeling this Valentine's Day is centered around. It's mostly about getting laid, although most females will deny it and males will refuse to acknowledge it aloud.

I'd be nothin' worth mentionin' without her good influence.

Emotional attachment is what you feel for a lamp or a tv show. When it comes to human relationships, to real human connection, emotional attachment is just too weak of a concept. And yeah, Valentine's is geared towards romantic love and a lot of it is geared towards sex, but just because the media's tellin' ya to think and act a certain way doesn't mean you should. Critical thinkin' and all that, makin' up your own mind about what's imporatant to you and why and whether or not you want to celebrate it whenever given a convenient excuse.

Tatsuki said it right!! Like, like... I love Tatsuki! And Rangiku, and Chizuru, and Sasuke, and Ishida~ I love you too, Risa!

Love is about being willing to face down an army ninja in the middle of the Grand Canyon with nothing more than your katana at your side, because if you don't end this now, they won't just stop at you. They'll use your bloodline powers next to decimate the fishing village that you grew up in, and your childhood love and his new wife will be the first to go! Even if he'll never look at you with that kind of love in his eyes, you'll still protect that future for him and his children! For the world!

You're sweet, but you don't need to lie just to make me feel better.

If you believe in this love so much, why are you so pessimistic? Why do you assume that the man you love will never love you in return? Sure it is a great thing you are willing to do for him, but why lose heart if it is so wonderful a thing?

It's not a lie, though! I love you, Risa! ♥!

It's not pessimistic, it's heroic! Like Don Quixote in The Man of La Mancha sings-- To love, pure and chaste from afar!

Ouch. The fury of a woman scorned, is it?

Nothing to be angry about. Just apathetic, I guess.
