Name That Curl...a participation post!

Nov 27, 2011 00:01

OK, I know this isn't going to go over very well with everyone, but I can't resist....I've had to deal with my own renegade curls throughout my life, and it makes me curious about what other people have to do to tame their wild hair. So the pictures of Ian I'm posting today have been sequenced into a kind of Scale of Curliness, with #1 being ( Read more... )

What I want you to do is imagine that Ian gets out of the shower

OKAY!!!!!

what? Was there more?
Ohhh all right.
Not having even slightly curly hair I don't know what curly-haired people do, except for wish for straight hair while straight-haired people wish for curly hair. The grass is always greener on the other side, eh?
As far as Ian's hair... hmmmm... I would suppose it would depend quite a bit on the length? Most likely if he combs or brushes it while it is wet, that will straighten it a bit into a lovely wave. If he towel dries it but doesn't comb it while damp there will be much more curl, like the first pic or like Desmond's hair often was. Of course blow-dried, styled, would be Cameron's hair. Just slightly wavy, silky, soft.... perfect to run fingers through...

ummmm...

Did you say something about a scale?

ummmmmm...

what?

Oh, yeah. I forgot to say--I often put my hair in a ponytail while it's still wet to minimize the curling. I have a feeling when Ian's hair was long he did the same thing [the birth of the Black Band!!]. I theorize[!] that now that it's too short to put up, he does something similar with sunglasses--you see him with them up on his head a lot, and they may help hold down the super waves you see up top in #1-#3.

I know, I'm really into this. I'm still looking for the perfect way to get control of my hair without putting a lot of work into it!

If you brush and then braid it while it is still slightly damp would that tame it into managable waves?

I'm going with #1. If he lets his hair air dry that's what it's going to look like.

I used to have straight hair, but it's gotten wavier and somewhat curly as I've gotten older. Unfortunately the only time it's really curly is when it's humid and I wish I could capture those curls on a permanent basis without a perm. lol

I agree with your analysis! #4 is from the Scream Awards 2010, and I remember it was rainy in LA and the awards show was outdoors, so I think Ian's curls took over. LOL--I also think seeing that picture may have caused him to become a vegetarian ['scuse me, pescatarian]--that suit is awfully tight!

I'd like to think Island!Des was the real thing, but I'm sure that anytime actors are on set they are styled within an inch of their lives.

I've always wanted straight hair. When I was a teenager, we tried rolling our hair in empty soup cans to try to straighten it. Didn't work. I never heard of a flat-iron until I was in my 40's, but by then I was no longer intrepid enough to let a 4000 degree appliance near my head.

I don't really think Ian's hair looks that curly in #4. A bit wavy, but not really curly. The pic in my icon has the best curls though!

I'll go with #5, but only because that is what I wish it was. Wish he had long hair again. Wish he was still Desmond on our tv. Wish I'd been sitting across from him watching his hair dry!

That Cameron...he's got him some hair all right! *fluffs it with fingertips*

I could never manage the soup or orange juice cans, so I mastered the art of ironing my waist length hair on the ironing board. Took quite a bit of talent, I must say!

I'm a curly top, too. Last year I had it straightened and have been loving wearing it straight. As far as I know, there is no easy way to deal with curly hair. It depends on the length, and more importantly, the weather.

Regarding Ian's hair, I really like the look of #8, but I'd guess that #4 is probably the answer to your question.
