Nice point. What bothers me is something very similar happened to the woman at the end of the last Indy Jones movie.

And both Rose and Donna seemed to have very little autonomy. That really worried me.

I heard that about the Indiana Jones movie--between the review that slammed it for that and the less-than-positive writeup it received in the New Yorker, I didn't go out of my way to see it.

It's not a perfect rehabilitation, but from a storytelling point of view, I thought this was brilliant. Beautifully written and acted, and the Doctor's actions were, if nothing else, true to his character. Problematic? Yes. But few things in this world aren't.

Still, I'm pretty devastated.

I was so devastated at the Doctor's action- but I can understand them too. I like your alternate interpretation of what happened. The Doctor helped bring out those awesome qualities of Donna's, but they were her's to begin with.

I can't wait for a longer reaction post- thanks for sharing your opinions!

Thanks for stopping by! I think a lot of my thoughts will end up getting worked out in fic, but at some point in the next few days I might ramble on a little more. :P We'll see what happens.

I'm pretty devastated, too. I can't entirely get away from the troubling implications of Donna's fate, however I might finesse it to make myself feel better. But oh, it was so heartbreaking and so good.

Though I'm also holding out hope that Catherine Tate will want to come back at some point and a loophole will be found... :P
