OMG, you got him to do yoga!?

Bwahahaha! Erm...um...sorry.

Actually yoga can be really good stuff for flexibility and strengthening muscle groups that are hard to do in more traditional workouts. Even the Army has brought in a few yoga stretches, like 2 mind you, but if the Army can recognize that it is worth something then you'd have to be blind no to.

Did you find it hard as a beginner? I felt like there were some poses a little too complicated for an inflexible newb such as myself.

I felt like I was using some one else's body. It made me realize I need to have a better relationship with how I move or more with the fact that I don't use my body very much.

I understand what you mean, about being out of touch with your body. I don't listen to mine very much, or take care of it very well!

hey there -
i did the bikram thing a few times, and also tried hatha (mainly stretching kind). bikram felt cleansing, but the things i didn't like:
1. it didn't get my heart rate up. 90 min of exercise, but no massive burning of calories that running does.
2. it's 90 freakin minutes! i can run for 30 min, or swim for 40, and get in a decent workout.
3. the routine was exactly the same every time.
4. did i mention 90 minutes???!
i dragged your brother along once (my hubby). we both agreed that, while it felt cleansing, it wasn't for us.
i'd think that you'd be short on time, being a medical student, so i'd stick with the efficient forms of exercise. if you're looking to specifically de-stress, you might try meditating daily.
drinking helps. so does eating too many white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies, as i have this evening. (luckily, as the hubby isn't here to eat them, i gave most of them away to the neighbors on sunday.)
hugs,
asil
