Wendy's a bigger person than me to have kind words for Dr. Barbara Thornfield MD PhD.
To my thinking, Dr. Barbara Thornfield, M.D., PhD is a little like a disliked mother-in-law to Wendy: however bad she is, she created someone Wendy loves, and Lacey still loves her, so Wendy wants to at least make an effort. And considering that basically everything we hear about Dr. Thornfield doing in canon would be admirable if she weren't neglecting her daughter to do it, and the fact that she was willing to shuffle her schedule for Art Crawl until something came along that she couldn't get away from, I think she's probably a decent person who's not really aware of how much Lacey hurts over her. She probably has strong ideas about the needs of the many versus the needs of the few, and doesn't recognize that there are exceptions to be made when "the few" is your little girl. None of which excuses her actions, of course, but it begins to explain them.

Yeah, you're right. Heh, Wendy considering Dr. Barbara Thornfield MD PhD as a mother-in-law makes her assuming Wendy and Lacey are dating all the funnier.
