Have you guys heard about the "Pentagon Pundits" scandal? It's about to break wide open any day now. And there's really no other way to describe it than this:

The United States government has been seeding the American press with individuals posing as unbiased experts on the military and the Middle East when, in fact, these individuals are actually ( Read more... )

This totes doesn't surprise me at all.

I speculated about stuff like this back in 2004, in a very short-lived blog before I decided to re-establish the Civility Webpage.

a secret PSYOPS program being run out of the Pentagon that aims to psychologically manipulate the American public into supporting the occupation of Iraq and possibly an upcoming invasion and occupation of Iran.

I try to think of something to say that's not "And you were surprised by this why?", but I can't come up with a more intelligent way of expressing it :(

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not at all surprised that the Bush Administration would pull stuff like this. After the NSA wire-tapping alone, I think it was pretty clear that they have a warped sense of civil rights and liberties.

Ultimately, I'm offended more than anything. Though what does shock me is that even though the Pentagon and Fox News have been caught red handed, they're just going about their business as usual. In other words, if they had tried to cover up this scandal, then they'd at least be showing some capacity for understanding right and wrong.

Yeah, I'm not surprised, but I'm squealing with delight and hoping this gets more mainstream media coverage.
