I completely agree about taking the psuedoephedrine out of even liquid meds! I don't tell my other, more naive, friends that if the stuff that's on the shelves now, which has been around for as long as PE, was as good as PE, then it would have been in everything, too... not thrown in as a replacement for PE later. I told a pharmacist that I wouldn't even try the alternative because I know the best product is the one that ended up in every cold medicine for the last twenty years and he agreed ( ... )

I attribute the fact that I was well enough to come to work today to the fact that my Walgreens generic Ny-Quil I was chugging yesterday had the PE in it! I completely agree that if the other stuff worked as well that it is what they would have been using already!

I always buy the generic pseudoephedrine, no matter where I go. Cub, Target, Walgreens - they all have it. You have to sign your life away (why would I ever turn my wonderful sinus-clearing PE into Meth anyway???), but you can get up to 3.6g per day, and not more than 9g per 30 day period. http://www.ctpharmacists.org/files/public/MethSummary.pdf
You can get 3 of the 96-packs of 30mg pills each month, and there is no "lifetime limit".

You know, you can just take the crappy generic Ny-Quil that has NO decongestant in it, and also take a dose of generic Sudafed at the same time - make your own PE Ny-Quil! I checked with my pharmacist. Just make sure there's no decongestant in the Ny-Quil, and you're fine. Or, I skip the Ny-Quil part altogether, and just take the sudafed and some advil.

I'm sorry you feel like crap. I hope the Ny-Quil keeps working. *cozy*
