I saw this article last week, but hadn't gotten around to posting it yet. The TSA is encouraging people to view photographers with suspicion. Article here
C&P of text here: TSA Sows Fear of Photographers

I was honestly shocked going to Florida and back by how easy security was. I've never in my life traveled with as much electronic & camera equipment as I did for that trip. With both my carry-on and my laptop bag being mostly electronics I really thought I'd get pulled out for a hand search.
I hate the TSA with a passion. This is what happens when an undereducated underexposed (ha ha... that's kind of pun-y) person gets in a position of power. They don't have the knowledge base to know/understand photographers or their equipment (or their passionate nature). Secondly, they don't have the experience to know that there are places in this world that just HAVE to be photographed and documented. Third, most TSA people have a high school diploma and nothing else and while secondary education isn't for everyone (and I respect that), TSA officials seem to get it in their head that they made something of themselves without going the extra mile and they are not in a position of power and that makes them better than everyone else (not just equal, but better) and therefore they can treat everyone like crap and make stupid accusations like this

The TSA can be useful... When I was on the light rail in Phoenix heading to the airport I was paranoid about missing my stop or getting off on the wrong one. A guy in his TSA uniform got on so I just followed him. ;) Other than that though? not so much.
