We met with 5-6 different companies about our roof, the work is still not done, but our top pic was - WRIGHT-AT-HOME-SERVICES INC Phone: (763) 493-2724
We chose a different one, but since we signed the contract in April and have not gotten our roof done yet, I can hardly recommend them. We did not go with the above because they were slightly higher priced. I think if the roof is not done soon we will just pay the extra.
I also recommend Wright-At-Home for the service, if not the price. They're the ones who came out and looked at my roof last year. We didn't get insurance money, so we didn't do the new roof then, but the guy (Phil Kopesky) patched our leak for us, for FREE! They were the first ones we called this year, after all the storms were done and we still had to do it with no insurance. (Damn hail was avoiding us, knowing we'd do the roof with or without it!) They also got an A on Angie's List

We're in the middle of getting the siding done, so I can't tell you yet if they're perfect or not. However, they have been really nice and polite and done their best to clean up and not destroy my garden, and they were very close in price to the other estimate that we had done so I'm guessing they were both decent estimates. Our guys are Craftsmen Home Improvements, Inc., www.craftsmenhomeimprovements.com (various phone numbers)
I have a friend, Steve McGee, that I worked with for years (i used to sell siding, roofs, windows ect.) He does very good work, did our trim last year. His Company is Coverall siding and the number is 612-250-5266
They were recommended by the insurance company and Schmidt Roofing must satisfy the insurance company's expectations and the expectations of the mortgage lender in order to stay on the "recommended" list. The guy that was out was very thorough.
They have not yet worked on the house but are expected to start within the next two weeks.
All of my advice, which you probably don't need: *Never hire a "friend" for any reason - for that matter, never hire anyone that you might be uncomfortable taking to court for negligence or incompetence. *A written contract will specify the scope of work and the payment schedule. Payments should never be completed until work is completed. The contractor should also be able to put in writing the materials and brands of products used, and the timeline for completion. Never sign a blank contract or one with blank spaces. *Check to see that the contractor's license number is not expired or fake at theContractor's license reference site*Check on complaints that have been
