Season 2 Companion thoughts and misc. stuff

Feb 02, 2010 19:27

My S2 Companion book arrived in the mail today, so I blew off work for the afternoon and read it - probably not a wise move job-wise, but I have little to no will power and I hate my job, so yeah, it wasn't all that surprising a thing for me to do.

So, as most of you know, I'm quite proud of my TIMELINE - (which is suffering greatly in S5, damn you ( Read more... )

About a paragraph after that JDM also says that he's gone online and argued with fans who think John was a horrible father.

THIS. is cool. Not many actors would really go online and defend their characters against the fans directly. Way to go, JDM.

Samuel Winchester
"He's really sorry"
May 2, 1983 - April 30, 2007
May 2, 2007 - (unknown)

LOL on the "He's really sorry". I thought it would say "Sam, not Sammy". :)

Haha, another good epitaph ;-) "He's really sorry" was just the first thing that sprang to mind, really.

Yeah, I've got a quite the crush on JDM. He brought so much to John Winchester, and obviously, it's because he actually cares about the character.

rofl, oh JDM how I miss your lulzy antics. seriously, and don't worry about using Supernatural to not work, I frequently use Supernatural to not do school work. Yay University.

You can get away with way ditching-of-work much easier in University than you can when you actually have a job - but hey, there's always hope that no one noticed!

I miss JDM too!

The arguing online thing cracks me up. One, this fandom....*shakes head*. And two- rhanks to the meta-tastic crackiness of recent seasons, my brain produces images of him getting really into it, and typing furiously on the keyboard.

I'm in a silly mood tonight.

Haha, me too!!

It's just silly images in my head of JDM typing furiously on the keyboard muttering things like "oh that's it, deangirl_79! You are going down!"

This fandom indeed...I carefully avoid all places where the crazies hang-out, but I always end up hearing about the ridiculousness somehow.

Slightly related: Often I wonder how weird it must be for the actors - they basically can't look up anything about their own show without stumbling across manips of them making-out with their best friend :-P It must be truly bizarre for them.

That's probably the best reason for them to never, ever go online. I find it disturbing as a random person. (Disturbing, not necessarily in a "how dare they" way, but disturbing in the sense that option a) involves incest, which just, ew. and option b) involves well, writing porn about real people- which is just.... well, it makes me uncomfortable. I don't even like celebrity news (I really don't care about so and so's struggle with DRUGS!, but then there's also this sense of ownership/entitlement that creeps me out), so it just bothers me. And option C involves completely original fiction that borrows names and physical appearances, which is just something I never really understood.

Yeah, I'm with you there. (Mind you, I do like some of the completely original fiction, I just wish they were accessible in a medium that didn't borrow names and appearances from real people).

What I find most disturbing is the manips though...you know, the ones where it's basically their heads stuck on porn-stars' bodies. I mean...I guess it's just putting a visual on those stories people write, so maybe it's the same thing really, but I find it notches up the disturbing-factor tenfold.

I don't read celebrity gossip either. I'm of the opinion that people should be allowed to keep their personal lives private - I mean, I know *I* like to be able to do so, and "do unto others..." and all that jazz, so yeah, no celebrity gossip for me. Plus, as you say, I really don't care that much - I've got my own problems to obsess about, thanks.

I would! But I'm a stickler for accuracy.

It's true though, that May 2 to May 2 looks a hell of a lot nicer than May 2 to April 30...so, if you were going with whatever was aesthetically pleasing, then don't change it.
