Quick Reaction: 15x19 Inherit the Earth

.... so.....

... I'm not going to lie... I hated that. These are my least favourite writers, and it appears they wanted to go out with a bang - making sure to remind me of every single reason I hate them on their way out the door.

I know I have rules around here about staying positive, but I kind of feel like I don't want to summarize this one for ( Read more... )

Powerful enough to defeat God, but not powerful enough to yank someone from the Empty? - What for? The series began with the brothers, and the series ended with them. How do you imagine the life of an angel on earth, when everything fell into place? He had to die. Nice end to the season. Everything in its place

I disagree. It goes against character for them not to try to rescue him, in my opinion.

Do you remember at least one moment when they returned someone else, not each other? And when Cas took Dean out of the cave where Sam had disappeared, instead of letting him go find him and save him? So you can leave Sam, but you can't leave Cas?

Yes, I perfectly remember that, and Sam was dead, and they were currently trying to FIND their superpowered friend. So it made perfect sense to leave him. If they had been walking around with God at the time, I would be equally as annoyed that they didn't at least ask him to resurrect Sam.

I so hoped this would be a good one. I know there were massive expectations after 15 seasons, and I don't know if anything would have been satisfying enough, but this was distinctly meh at best. I'm not generally a fan of the results first, explanation later trope, especially it it's done to save time. This could have been spread over the final two episodes and been much more satisfying and thought out. So many issues too. Why is Chuck's omniscience so variable? Does he know everything or doesn't he? Why didn't Jack bring Cas back? Michael's loyalty turns on a dime like that? Lucifer, just DIE, already.
And yes, aren't montages saved for the finale? What are they going to do next week??

Yeah, I am super confused about what is going to happen next week.

I also agree about the explanations-after thing. It would have also kept the tension up more in the episode if we had known about the plan from the start - rather than wondering why the Winchesters seemed to just be blindly trusting every "suddenly alive' being they came across.

My thing is that my expectations weren't even high, and yet they still managed to come in so very far below them. Like, they just had to NOT be complete hacks and they couldn't even manage that.

Yeah, I suppose the good thing about the ending (though we'll see what happens next week) is that the boys are alive and free - so the fanfic world is still very much open to us all.

I am very happy about that.

I think I'm fine with where we ended up, I just wish the path to get there was better written. If I look at the end of the the last episode and the end of this one, I'm like "yes, that's fine" but everything in between is like watching someone vomit.

Anyway! Yes, I agree with pretty much everything you said!

I'm also really curious about next week - could be that they decide NOT to leave us open for fanfiction after all? I'm not sure. Maybe they'll wake up and it will all have been a dream :P

One other thought--remember way back when Kelly Kline was pregnant and Cas touched her baby bump and declared that Jack was destined to do great good in the world? That actually paid off 3 seasons later!

Yes! That was cool. I'm glad that that paid off.

Sorry to hear you didn't like this episode. I was all excited to read your review and actually commenting because I had a little bit of time in my day to do so. Then, it was like after reading how you felt about it, well.........oh, okay, I guess I won't be commenting after all. But, I lie, just a little comment or two ( ... )

Yeah, I don't think I actually have a problem with WHAT happened, I have a problem with how it was written. I've been thinking about it all day, and I'm fine with where everything has ended up - it was actually one of the endings that I wanted. I'm just not happy with the some of how we got there and the actual words that were said along the way. If that makes any sense ( ... )

Clarify-the last episode, the one we haven't seen yet, airing next week is Jared's favorite and the one Jared liked. No mention of how he felt of his episode.

I agree with you, though. Some of how they got there I didn't favor too much. Having Lucifer back was VERY grating. I thought we were done with him. I was so bored of him in later seasons and felt it was unnecessary to keep rehashing his storyline. Then, to see him again set my nerves on edge. But, to have him killed again by Michael was sweet. I'd never tire of seeing him killed.

True, we are not going to like all the episodes. There are several episodes that I just get bored silly with and just don't want to go there. But they are what they are.

I'm very curious to see how the boys story is going to end. Given they keep talking about doing a movie years down the road, they at least have to be in a place where a movie could plausibly be written. We'll see.

Ah, okay, I'm more excited for next week then, knowing it's Jared's favourite!

I'd never tire of seeing him killed.

Same! Though I wish we didn't have to see him again in order to watch him be killed again :P

I'm very curious to see how the boys story is going to end. Given they keep talking about doing at movie years down the road

Yes, I'm hoping that they still leave room for fandom to play (or for future stories). Something that wraps up the adventure for now, but doesn't necessarily wrap it up forever.

We'll see! Now that BuckLeming have had their turn, I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever they do.
