Quick Reaction: 12x20 Twigs, Twine, Tasha Banes

No worries, I didn't need my heart.

Tonight I went out to see a documentary called The Road Forward, which is about the history of the Indigenous Rights movement in British Columbia. It was really interesting, but already had me quite emotional - because, you know - First Nations have been and are treated horribly in my country.

Anyway, I downloaded ( Read more... )

Damn right this was depressing as all hell! It also put me on edge thinking somebody else is about to die, so that at the end in the car when Dean listens to Mary's voice mails and then tries to wake Sam up but the scene cuts away? I had a horrible, horrible thought that something bad had happened to Sam! (I'm sure it didn't, but that's how on edge I was after all the family-member torturing and dying we got!)

Oh man, I was THE SAME WAY.

It doesn't help that the movie Untamed Heart scarred me for life when I was an impressionable youth... uh, spoilers? (Are you ever going to watch a relatively unknown 90s movie?)

But yeah...I totally thought for a moment that Sam was dead, just because he didn't wake up on the first call of his name.

Lol! Glad I wasn't the only one! (I wonder if that was intentional? Probably...)

I want to be positive, I want to believe that they're setting the twins up for a spin off, give them a quest to start of from, with Max finding a way to restore his sister to her true self, and her becoming so as she tries to save him.

It's how I'd tell the story. I just don't dare hope for it anymore.

I did like the episode, I really liked the actors who played Max, Alicia and Sasha, and it would be a shame not to see them again.

I think that's what I'll believe... that Max somehow finds a way to resurrect his sister completely, and that because Dean killed the witch, Max DOESN'T end up in a demon deal.

Until they come back and dispel that illusion, that'll be my headcanon. Because ugh, it was way too tragic.

Which leaves me torn, of course, because I also really liked the actors and the characters, and want them to come back - but if they come back, I fear it'll just be for more heartbreak and I don't want that at all. :(

Blah.

Which is why I want them to come back in their own series. If they're the leads, the show is less likely to kill them off and discard them for another character's manpain, know what I mean?

It would just be awesome if the SPN producers decided to use the spin off to fix the one major flaw spn has, which is a lack of regular characters who are female, poc and/or LGBT.

They could have the Winchesters guest starring on the spin off, to deal with the aftermath of them finding out about what Max did. Only since they're not the leads, it would be about Max dealing with them, rather than them dealing with Max, hoping that difference makes sense.

That's a very very good point. You've won me over! Now this is what I want. I can watch it until a point where they are both happy and healthy, and then I can stop watching before they both die at the end in some horrible tragedy.

I don't know, I'm kind of tired of Cas-is-tricked-into-doing-something-bad storylines. I'd prefer if we had a Cas-actually-knows-what-the-heck-he's-doing storyline for once.
YES!!!!!!! So much this!

I did LOL several times while reading your review, if you can believe it. It was a very heartbreaking ep though. You're right it looks bad for Mary :'(

Because from what we've seen of them, it's not about killing monsters, it's about control.
If the American hunters won't obey them, then they're in the way, because they give people the idea that they can say no to them.

A very good point. I think it's sort of a dictator/colonialist approach - where they're killing those who are most likely to dissent and challenge the way the BMoL govern.

I'm hoping that the deal broke with the witch's death...didn't she say that the ring and the dolls were what were keeping her alive? It didn't sound like she had a ten-year deal, but instead something that kept her going until she found someone to volunteer to take the magic curse. So maybe Max is clear on that front. Still, Alicia's body is still gone, although the doll has all her memories and her heart, and presumably, all her feelings. If she doesn't know she's a doll, and Max is letting her function as herself and not trying to control her, isn't she still "alive" and herself? Just differently vulnerable ( ... )

Well, the deal wouldn't be through Crowley - it'd be through whatever demon bestowed the power on the witch. But who knows if he's actually affected by the deal, or if it's null and void since the original witch kicked it.

That's the ONLY acceptable way to use your vibrate feature...and also, have that vibrate on LOW. I can't stand these TV shows where all the phones are on HIGH VIBRATE. Like, dude, JUST USE A TONE.

I figure that Dean left his phone behind, because it wasn't like "we're on a case" - it was "there is no case and this is a room full of hunters." So, he was pretty much "at home."

I don't know, at this point I'm pretty pessimistic about Mary's fate - but I'll be happily proved wrong. But yeah, it'd be nice to keep her around in some capacity, even if they have to rebuilt the relationship at third time.
