Quick Reaction: 6x18 Frontierland

Apr 23, 2011 02:12

Ok, after having delicious dinner and tons of wine at my friends' house, my other friend (who just moved to town) was lured into a bar with live music on our way home, and we drank EVEN MORE WINE...and now it is EVEN LATER...and um...yeah, so let's see how much of this episode I can remember, and how coherent I am...

It rained all night the day I left, the weather it was dry. Sun so hot I froze to death... )

season 6, quick reaction

The line you are looking for is "Wow, I should'a seen that comin'"

My quibble is the courier service - how did Colt know that one would still be in business?

And I am with you on the whole ganking the Big Bad - the boys are going to get their rear ends handed to them, at least until the season finale. :-)

Yes! Awesome.

Very true. I guess he just took a gamble.

The boys plans really never work out well for them. I just hope that they don't get their asses handed to them TOO badly... :P

Dean found Samuel Colt's journal, not Sam. ;)

How come no one ever put all my historical research to music and gave me dramatic lighting?

LOL I often wish my life was a movie, too....if only for the background music. *g*

Great review, as always and loads of fun.

Oops! I blame the booze. :P Whoever found it, they were both adorably excited! I loved it.

Maybe I should start pretending that my life IS set to dramatic music in a montage somewhere - that'll keep me interesting ;)

Funny, because at the end of the episode (I will also blame booze), I was thinking "Very dramatic, Dean. You're going to look a bit like a fool when 'in real life', the scene doesn't cut to credits, but just kind of keeps going on awkwardly."

HAHAHAHA *awkward*

There was a time in my teenage years where I'd make dramatic exits - then find myself in another room with absolutely no reason to be there and nothing to do, but not being able to go back to where I wanted to be, because it'd ruin the dramatic effect. :P

I always like to read you're review after watching the show. I liked the music on this one (keep waiting for a chorus of 'Rangoooooo' though XD) and all in all I laughted a lot.
Also, on the phoenix being like a Doctor Who, you had me wondering on the effect the Colt would have the Doctor...

Glad you liked my drunk/tired review, haha.

It was my understanding that if you killed the Doctor quickly enough, not giving him time to regenerate, than he'd die...so, the Colt could kill him, but so could any other well aimed bullet. At least, in my understanding.

Be it this one or others, there is always things you notice that I missed so, yeah I like them ^^
As for the Doctor, thanks for the answer. It's been a long time since I watch an episode...

Oh, that would have been perfect (music cue). Now, I'm so disappointed that it wasn't in there. I wonder if it was a rights issue and the amount of time they had?

I can't believe with all of the Clint tributes, they didn't think of the musical sting, too. It "Whooo-oooo-whooo" whistle definitely should have played when Dean and Phoenix had their showdown/face-off.

Great review and keep up the swearin'!! XD I am also miffed about the timeline but I have been properly distracted by handsome men in cowboy gear and tons of references to my favorite Back to the Future movie, and that is number 3, my friends.

Love your reviews, my dear <333

Yes, I was also distracted by handsome men in cowboy gear while I watched - it wasn't until afterward that I realized the timeline gaff.

I'm glad you liked the review :) And I love BTTF 3 too! Such good times.

I KNEW something was off during that line, but I couldn't think what... yes, the writers blew continuity.

Well, we'll just fix that in post-ep fanfic... :-)

"Sam, it's 2012, get it right!" "Ooops, sorry, forgot."

FIXED! :P

Yeah, I was still a little sad that Dean had to kill the phoenix guy even though he wasn't evil. But he was thinking of the 'greater good' I guess. And Finch had killed 2 guys that MAY have not known he was innocent-it was only the 3rd guy there when the wife was shot, so they could have believed their friend...

I am also upset at the timeline issue. They say 1 yr passed, but they aren't being consistent about that. If they want to keep saying 2011, then they should have made Dean stay with Lisa for a few months only.

It's a good point about the Phoenix killing two men who may not have known he was innocent.

And yeah, the timeline thing really pisses me off. I LIKE the fact that Dean spent a whole year with Lisa (and we needed that whole year for the narrative/character-arcs to make sense), I just wish that the writers had realized that it meant that the show was a year ahead of reality! Sigh.

Anyway, my season 6 timeline is going to be a bit f*cked up now. I'm going to have to decide how I want to play this - stay true to the dialogue, and have Dean's year with Lisa be a mythical pocket of time somewhere in 2010, or say "screw you" to the writers and add a year to all dates mentioned so that it actually makes sense for the narrative of the story...decisions...

Write a mini-fic in the timeline about how the Doctor got involved and there was wibbly-wobbly time-y wimey so that dean BOTH spent a year with Lisa and also just 4 months?
