"We're all going to die Sam, in like a month, maybe two?"
As far as your timeline--I saw this as a throwaway comment, just pointing out the hopelessness Dean feels, not as a canonical time reference. You know, how you say you'll be there in a minute and it's really going to take at least 10 for you to be ready?
I enjoyed your review because you point out all the things that were heartbreakingly great about this episode, while I know that it didn't impress me that much when I first saw it. Makes me want to watch it again, looking for the Dean and Sam moments.
Yeah, in my timeline, I put it as an option, but I kept the official date as "Unknown." Because I really can't base anything on assumptions...I need facts! Damn it! So, yes, I REALLY need some dates in the next few episodes, or else it's going to be a lot of unknowns...which will make S6 a bunch of unknowns too.
Actually, what is happening increasingly with the show is that it'll be self-referential when it comes to time. So I'll know that one episode occurs three weeks after the previous one, but I won't know what time on the calendar either falls.
Yes, I don't really like this episode - but it's not because it doesn't have some great moments...it's just that it tends to put me in a bad mood. It's a bit too dull (in colour) and depressing...even with the funny Cas moments....they are heartbreakingly funny, which doesn't do that much to improve my mood.
Haha, no worries! I figured if I demanded no one talk to me about this, I'd probably get at least one person who couldn't resist - but would have a well reasoned argument

I'm commenting for real later on this thread, but I just needed to jump in and say:
1) Excellent article on overthinkingit.com, I've been linked to it a few times and it is definitely worth the read.
2) Feminists, at least the ones I've talked to, have the problem with Supernatural that for a long time there were no recurring female characters. Meaning that there was no opportunity to develop female characters with strengths, weaknesses, growth, etc. Then when there finally were a couple, (Ellen, Jo, Anna, Ruby, Lillith), they were killed off leaving only male recurring characters. Kind of like the men on Sex and the City. They show up, and then disappear when no longer needed. Any feminists who have issues with the word "whore" in this episode are hyper sensitive. Dean used the word because that's what they were hunting. If they'd been hunting vampires he'd have said "On a good day you get to kill a blood sucker."
3) Real feminists are equal-ists. It's not just about treating women as objects, it's about treating anybody as an

2)And that's part of my problem with Feminists who have a problem with Supernatural. This show is about two MEN, and masculinity in a society devoid of the feminine. There shouldn't BE any recurring female characters. The whole tragedy of their lives is that there are no female recurring characters in them.
3)Yes, to this. This is basically my standpoint on it. I'm a feminist in the traditional sense of the word - EQUAList. Not female uber alles.
and i do agree with your rant about how the fandom has this thing about how to portray women - i like your "being human" part.
i really do like Lisa... she knows what Dean does and there's no secrets, she wants to be there for him when he pops in. she realises he's in a tough spot, and wants to help him however she can. i like your thoughts that he's idealised her, too.
