[Night 8] Area Out Front of Infirmary

[From here]There was a heavy feel to the air as Yuuri stepped outside. It was almost enough to make his skin crawl, and as it was, Yuuri couldn't stop the shudder from running throughout his body. Aaah why did every place he want to go here have to have a creepy feel to it ( Read more... )

Armand watched Yuuri carefully as they progressed down the stairs and out onto the grounds. Compared to indoors, the air was still fresh, but it now felt almost too thick to breathe. He wondered if it was largely psychological. Yuuri's remark about the rain drew his gaze upwards too. He didn't see anything particularly indicating rain, so he agreed.

"I think you're right. Mud would be unfortunate." He glanced northwards. "The grounds seem so much larger at night."

Sae shivered as the group stepped out into the night air. It wasn't painfully cold outside, but it was old enough that she felt her chest tightening as the air surrounded her. "Mud would just make a hole harder to dig, yeah," she agreed as they trekked across the open ground.

She was silent for a moment before a thought occurred to her: none of them were carrying shovels. "How are we going to dig the hole, anyway?"

Yuuri hadn't even considered how annoying mud would have been if it had started raining, and he was ever more thankful that there was no signs of it. Moving along as they spoke, the young Maou paused at Sae's question.

He hadn't thought of that either. He'd just been so set on getting out to the cages that he hadn't considered just how he was going to do it. Turning around to view the other two, he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, "Aaah I thought there might be something we could use when we get there."

"I know they keep shovels in the gardening shed," Armand offered. But he didn't know how long it would take to get there and back. "If there's nothing, we could... look there." He didn't like the idea of carrying the corpse of Yuuri's friend around, but he didn't see any way around it should it come to that.

[Running in from here here]

The area was fortunately devoid of any further horses, much to the Maou's pleasure, as he sighted the main prison building. He knew that his control over the water dragons would weaken, and the beast would be free now without a doubt.

He kept up his quick pace as he darted across the area. Keeping part of his attention behind him, the Maou hoped that neither of his two companions would stumble along the way.

Grabbing Sae's hand so she'd be forced to follow if she hesitated, Armand followed upon the black-haired man's heels. He still tasted mud in his mouth from the fall earlier, but he had no qualms in running so long as they all ran. Nobody could argue that Armand St. Just wasn't a stubborn man, sometimes to his own detriment.

The mechanized mare fought the strange water spell until it had faded, and then she simply turned around. The laser scanned until it found fast movement ahead, clearly her prey making the attempt at an escape. The beam locked onto the target as her legs began moving.

She pushed herself up into a gallop quickly, chasing down the three people. Her hind legs pushed her faster than should have been possible with no flesh back there, and the constant sound of metal sliding along metal was clearly heard. Her intestines slapped and wiggled back and forth in her open barrel, only held in place by the wires to her spine.

Snorting, she bared her teeth as she closed the distance, no longer feeling the need to be slow in the kill.

He sensed the pair behind him keeping up, and that was more than enough for the Maou. That beast had gotten free from his spell, and he could feel the last tendrils of his maryoku beginning to drain away. They could make it to the tower - he would make certain of it.

Pushing himself harder, the Maou held his hand out before him as they approached the door. Pushing his majutsu to its limits, he forced one last spell out as water gushed up around the door just up ahead. It took a moment, and as the distance closed, the door was forced open by the pressure just before he ran directly through it.
