Day 43 | Phone Call: All

Feb 24, 2011 11:20

The snow is melting pretty fast, and with the height it was at I'm starting to get worried. I mean it's not like this is a hilly town but or anything, so the water won't exactly move downwards. Maybe it'll head to the beach but...

[She pauses and you can hear the crunchy squishy sound of her shoes in the melting snow.]Does anyone have any barrels ( Read more... )

I don't think anyone has anything like that, so we'd best get to shoveling and relying on rain gutters.

I've got a wheelbarrow. I got it when we had the... monster incident a while back. But I think we should start soon.

Yeah. There might be some shovels somewhere.

See if you can gather what shovels you can. I'll start clearing a path to the beach.

Or we could sandbag the gutters and let the water run in the streets. [Like sane people.]

Yeah, and who has any sandbags? Do you? All I've got is a shovel and a wheelbarrow, what about you?

It's everywhere. Shovelin' it ain't gonna do shit. [That would be a negative, Ghostrider.]

So you would rather risk flooding than at least trying to help? If we clear out a path for the water to flow then that should reduce any potential damage.

By that logic we might as well start building snowballs and roll it all down to the beach. [ He's teasing you, Claire. But that isn't to say that he isn't just as concerned by the potential for rising water levels as she is. ]

You got any bright ideas meanie head? Anyway... you got a wheelbarrow or something? Just help me make a path to the sea or something. Anything.

You know if the snow wasn't so frozen the rolling it up idea might not actually be a bad one.

Though-- I guess it would get pretty heavy. [ Not that that would be a problem for Mr. Beefcake over here. ]

I've got a shovel. Maybe we can find some bags or something and start making sandbags. Or hell, like you said we could just try piling it up and building a drainage ditch.

We could fill some pillowcases with sand, make makeshift sandbags I guess. But I still think we should make a way to, you know, help the water flow to the sea or something just in case.

[And now she's all proud of herself.]

I wouldn't worry too much, any water will find a way to drain itself off.

Yeah but that's a lot of water...

I guess, but I'm not that worried.

Can't help it that I am. I just... after being here so long you end up wanting to take these precautions.

I will help, though I will not need barrels.
