Now, this question might sound kinda strange, but I just know there're some of you who've ventured outside to deal with those monsters. Myself not among them, since I really have no interest in gettin' myself killed

Well, now, that wasn't quite what I was expectin', to be honest.

Nor I, but the uniforms are quite distinctive.

[A pause while he obviously scribbles something down]

I don't know if we can run into each other's monsters but if you see black smoke, run.

Black smoke? Why, what does that mean?

It's a monster. There's no way to fight it.

No way to fight it. Okay, I'm gonna write that down. That's not good.

Why're you making a list?

I'm curious if the monsters're different things to different people.

Should they be?

That's something I'm trying to work out, but it'd be interesting if they were.

There are a lot of different ones, you know.

[But then he gets quieter, sounding less secure about his words.]

...Cie'th. And they shouldn't be here.

Can you describe them to me?

Different monsters. They are giant ones, ones that looked like big spiders, flying ones... I don't know. I try not to get too close to them in the fog.

And then there's different kinds of Cie'th. Crystallized monsters.

[hardestofharts]

Crystallized monsters. Nobody has said anything about that so far. That's helpful.

I haven't met any monsters, as of yet. Mostly my patrols keep to the sidewalks and common walkways where people are, so I have only heard and seen their shadows. That was back when they were not such threats.

As everyone is keeping inside, I thought it best to do the same as well unless someone needed assistance because they went outside.

That's the same for me. Well, except the one I met as soon as I got here.

I take it you were able to get away from it.

Sure was. Ran like hell. But it left me a souvenir--my arm got pretty scraped up.
