[Phonecall to All | Day 59]

May 06, 2011 21:07

[To say Monkey was out of breath was an understatement. He was panting up a storm, having been running around all morning and into the afternoon.]

Has...

Has anyone seen Trip? I can't... [He pauses, swallowing hard.] I can't find her anywhere.

[Stammering!]

No! She's just a close friend.

Dunno. I don't think I ever met her. [Pause.] Man, hold on... [Fortunately, he happens to be at the house of pain and loathing his house at the moment. Monkey may hear the sounds of rustling, as the phone book is pulled out. (It worked before as a way of figuring out if people were around or not, right?)] How'd you spell her name?

...I have no idea. Never learned how to read or write.

[A pause. Under different circumstances he'd break out the sarcasm, for the record.] It's okay. I can probably guess. Ain't like there's a bunch of people in town anyway. [And there is the sound of pages being turned.] You know if she's got any other names she goes by?

[Monkey holds back a small growl.] Tripitaka is her full name.

Miss Trip?

No, I regret to say I have not heard from her in some time as well. Is everything alright, sir?

...Damn.

No, it's not. I can't find Trip.

I spoke with her on the phone, some time ago. Blathering on about our grievances with the fog.

When did you last speak with her? I will lend any support I can to your efforts to find Miss Trip, as I had begun to find her a most agreeable companion in this dreary place.

[Hooooly proper speech.]

I just saw her yesterday night. She went to bed last night but was gone this morning.

A lot of other people have gone missing as well. She might be one of those who seemed to be able to "escape" from this place.

Hm. I wonder if that's good or bad, when it comes down to it...

Seeing as we don't know what happened to them afterwards, it could be either or.
