Lucifer please! ^_^ demiurgos_girl June 11 2011, 01:56:59 UTC
Elaine had promised some people she'd be at Coffe Works most of every day, in case people arrived. She liked to think of it as a safe spot, warm and brightly lit, a fortress against the damp, gray fog. And if monsters ever got too close, she was there to deal with them.

Although there was ambiance music, a predictable cafe tune, Elaine was sitting behind the counter with an ipod, fiddling idly with the buttons in search of music that would save her from boredom. But when the cafe doors opened she looked up and-

"Lucifer!" It barely really registered. The ipod fell forgotten, tugging the earphones away from her, as she flew- literally- over the counter, stumbled to a halt in front of him and- oh, to hell with it, she was having a hard time stopping- flung her arms around him in a wonderful niece hug.

Only then did she actually remember that he had been here twice and left both times, that she didn't care if he had, that oh crap maybe I've crossed a line, and that above all else she was glad to see him. And that last thought was all ( ... )

While he had entered the little cafe because he had felt a familiar presence, and one he had immediately identified as belonging to Elaine, he was unprepared for the enthusiasm of her greeting. One forked eyebrow rose as she embraced him, posture just a bit stiff and his hands still tucked in his coat pockets.

It was a development he had not foreseen when he and the Magician had started out on this venture. A complication made moreso by not just her presence, but by what she was. For if whatever had occurred to trap others in this realm had the power to contain a god, the god, then it would not be so easily overcome as he had hoped.

"I had not expected to see you here, Elaine Belloc," Lucifer said calmly after a moment's silence, slipping one hand free of his pocket to lay his palm gently against her back. A bit lacking perhaps, if it were given by a human, but coming from him, the gesture was tantamount to a real embrace.

"How do you fare?"

"The feeling's mutual." She felt the pressure of his hand with a wave of gladness and relief that he hadn't moved her aside. But she decided to not push her luck, stepping back to grin at him fully. All the bitterness at his leaving, all the things she had wanted to say to him, gone; replaced instead by a feeling that this was natural and familiar. "I didn't think to see you either. I should have felt you especially with all the wards I've set up here." Although her distraction should have been upsetting, she found it difficult to think so badly of herself at this moment.

Her slim shoulders came up in a shrug. "I've had worse weeks. Better ones, too. And I've seen less welcome faces." If he hadn't expected her, then he was new here- again. Not like Willow. Elaine walked over to a comfortable chair and pulled it away from a table, gesturing that he could sit. "You probably want to know what's going on. Can I get you anything? Coffee? Tea?"

He did not attempt to hold her, his hand falling back to his side the moment she stepped backward. And though he did not return the smile, he did incline his head briefly in a nod. "Perhaps the rather peculiar qualities of the town impaired the functioning of your wards in some way."

It was idly spoken, a passing idea that he did not mean to belabor, and he continued on. "No, refreshment won't be necessary. I don't plan to stay." Not at the cafe, not in the town. "I came here looking for a young woman. When I find her, I intend to return to Los Angeles."

He did not ask Elaine what she was doing in the place, her business was her own. But he made the offer anyway. "You may come with us, if you so desire."

Lucifer 8D I've been waiting for Crowley to have this particular freak out. eyesofaserpent June 11 2011, 15:15:33 UTC
Crowley had been on his way to the hospital for that second rabies shot, speeding through town in his Bentley when he saw a shape in the fog and screeched to a halt in the nick of time. It wasn't a monster in front of his hood but....

Ohshitohshitohshitohsitohshit! Fuck! Nonononono, not him! djfpjvggvvnpvnv

His knuckles grew white as he gripped the steering wheel harder. He steeled himself and got out of his car.

"Er... Lord... Please forgive my presumption, but what are you doing out here?"

Since arriving in the town, for he knew that there was a town buried beneath all the fog, Lucifer had seen plenty of vehicles parked along the side of the road, even a few in a driveway here and there. But there had been none on the roads, none of the usual sound of motors and tires and loud, obnoxious music generally favored by the humans. And when he heard the approach of one, after hours of silence on that score, he stopped and turned toward the sound, mildly curious as its source.

What he felt, as the car screeched to a halt, was a demon. And not just any demon. Oh, no. This was one he knew well ( ... )

Poor Crowley... This is shaping up to be an awful day for him. eyesofaserpent June 12 2011, 18:46:37 UTC
A soft tune could be heard coming from his car speakers, actually. The mp3 player had changed to "Night on Bald Mountain" moments before the demon stepped out of the car. He hadn't noticed the music until this moment. Random had it's moments of ludicrous accuracy followed by something completely ridiculous. For all he knew, the next song would be some peppy Eurobeat song ( ... )

If Lucifer noticed the demon’s difficulties, he gave no outward sign, merely watched him levelly through cool eyes as he listened to his explanation. In other circumstances, it might have been an excuse. An ill-advised excuse, considering that he could so easily discern truth from lies. But in this case, Crowley’s words rang with an element of truth that lent credence to the tale. And it confirmed what the former angel had already suspected ( ... )

She had sat there in the dark for like an hour before she finally caved. The light-bulb in the living room had gone out and all her rummaging hadn't presented Willow with another one. The zombie -- after she'd found it, after she'd stopped screeching as it continued to sprits the potted plants with nary a wince or acknowledgement of her presence -- hadn't changed the lightbulb either. And it hadn't been forthcoming as to the location of more of them ( ... )

It was the muted scrape of shoes against the pavement that alerted him to the presence of something coming toward him in the fog. Whatever it was lacked the accompanying hoots and hollers and roaring, groaning growls of the misty shite’s other occupants, but that didn’t tell him anything. Could be a silent kind of death, prowling closer with every step. Could be something without vocal cords. Or something that just knew the meaning of silly buggers ( ... )

The footsteps stopped abruptly, hesitated before they resumed, more cautious and uncertain. Their direction shifted to follow John's voice, even if the fog made her a little off. But it never occurred to Willow that this might be some monster's trick, just that she might have invented that voice in her mind. Just that she couldn't see him and god, she needed to.

"John?"

When the fog parted to reveal even the rough-round-the-edges shape of John Constantine, however, all hesitation fell out of her. The aluminum bat clattered as it fell forgotten on the pavement, the duffel bag hitting more quietly.

Heedless of anything but who stood before her, Willow ran to the magician and threw her arms around him. She buried eyes that stung and a nose that tickled into the worn fabric of his trench coat and held on for dear life.

Well, that was easy, wasn't it? Twenty minutes out from the Morningstar and already he'd found their quarry. Pity the old devil didn't have a mobile on him with interdimensional reception. John would've called him then and there, told him to break out the wings and get his arse down to the corner of Foggy and Foggier so they could get the bloody hell out of there.

Once he got a bit of a hug in and sorted out which arms were his.

"There, love, it's all right, yeah?" John said, simultaneously giving her shoulders a squeeze and rubbing soothingly at her back. "Didn't think we'd just let you go on holiday without us, did you?"

Snorting, he shook his head. "Answer's no, case you're wondering. Three musketeers, right? All for one and one for all?" Rambling attempt at comforting her coming to an end, he sobered up. "You all right, Willow?"
