Who: Ethan & whoever?
When: Day 45, mid-morning
Where: the watery, watery streets
What: Ethan suffers from blackouts, during which he wanders around and ends up in strange places. This is his first in Bell Pointe.
(The blackouts are supposedly ~meaningful~ and such but THE GAME NEVER EXPLAINS IT. So w/e I'm explaining it in my own head ^_____^)

He wasn't the only one out in the rain that day. Clad in his coat but keeping the hood down, Roxas wandered the streets in an effort to find how this water could be stopped. Freezing it wouldn't help. He tried burning it off, letting it evaporate. Nothing seemed to work well enough to offer a legitimate solution.

He blinked away the water that pushed his blond bangs into his eyes, swiping them off of his face. It reminded him of The World that Never Was just a little, but it had been so long since he had been there that he was beginning to gloss it over with other memories of fonder times in a nicer city with his friends.

He heard a shoe scrape across the ground and looked over, spotting Ethan. The man was a mess and he was just...standing there. At first, the boy said nothing. Eventually, he called out to him. "Hey. You're going to get soaked just hanging out here."

At first it was unclear if Ethan had even heard Roxas. He remained unmoving for a second or so before finally turning, slowly, towards the source of the voice. His sorrowful blue eyes met Roxas, but there was something strange about his gaze - it was as though he didn't really see what was in front of him. More like he was looking through it all, at something else entirely that no one else knew was there.

"They're all dead," he murmured. His voice sounded haunted, hopeless. "They've drowned."

Roxas had seen this sort of thing only once or twice before, but never quite like this. The look Ethan gave him was one from a man whose soul had been hollowed out, a man who had nothing left. It was a frightening thing. The boy might not have a heart, but he knew what fear was. His chest tightened and he stared at him. The man's voice was familiar. Roxas slowly approached him, ready to draw his blade if necessary.

"Who is? Who drowned?"

"The bodies," Ethan replied eerily. Then, softer, "So many of them."

He reached into his pocket and produced a small origami rat. It was messy and creased, as though it had been unfolded once and whoever fixed it didn't quite know what they were doing. Ethan's fingers closed around the figure, crushing it.

"I couldn't save him."
