The past, the present and the future?

All that talking about my life had left me thirsty, and almost mentally exhausted. I had already talked about my life once before with Riley, and yeah, it had opened old wounds that I didn't even knew I had, but telling the story again really made me think about everything that had happened that year that Buffy day, and before she did. It was ( Read more... )

The story about Dawn affected me in such a way that I couldn't leave her without a few drinks, even if she was Buffy's sister and I couldn't keep my hands off of her, either.

I knew that Riley had gone steady with Buffy and knew Dawn and I knew that if he saw a problem with me hugging her, then he would have put his foot down.

But, he hadn't. or maybe he had and I was just too drunk at this point to see it. Or maybe Riley was too drunk to see it?

I didn't know on that score, but I hadn't done anything wrong, and besides, she was getting a little tipsy too and our chairs just sort of found themselves moving closer together. There was nothing wrong with that, was there?

Ready to move on to another drink, just after Riley came back and left Dawn a quarter of a glass, I did the same and then went to the bar. If the bartender decided to cut us off, then I might have to knock him silly.

When Graham had gone to get his drink, just after I had got back and had given Dawn some more liquor, I looked Dawn in the eyes, just gauging her, to see if she was okay.

"Dawn, when you've had enough, let me know, and if Graham is bothering you, let me know as well."

Hell, I was drunk as hell at this point and was tipping back another drink right after I said it to her, but I still looked her in the eye after I said that.

"I'm serious, Dawn." I started laughing and she giglled a little bit too, but not too loudly.

This was fun and was what I needed. I would never let anything happen to Dawn, but this was Graham. He was never going to hurt her and if she did have any discomfort, then I wanted her to put her foot down.

Like that was going to happen. In minutes, she was going to be more drunk then both of us. Graham returned to the table and hugged her again. I couldn't remember right now if Graham was a clingy drunk, or if he just found Dawn to be a hottie.

I was going with the latter.
