Some locations I have been sent to are pretty far away, but I am not complaining because I would rather drive an hour (55 miles) to the South and be in a nice town than drive 25

My mom always made it with pork too, and the last time I made it I used pork as well. Interstingly, last time mine turned out too think - more like pea porridge than pea soup - but apparently in Holland that's a good thing. :) I still prefer a more watery version, though.
