The one good thing about having a week of your life sucked away into the evil soul-eating vortex of Antinora Hospital is that it kind of forces you to get some sleep. Mohinder's been alternately working and napping in his desk chair, getting up to microwave some frozen pizza and collapsing on the bed on his way back and sleeping for hours at a ( Read more... )

Obviously, this is the best time for the good doctor to come out of the general store with a bottle of water and a bag of something or another. He gives Mohinder a friendly wave, because he is clearly a friendly sort of doctor man. Hello!

What a coincidence! Mohinder's a friendly sort of doctor man too. He flashes the Doctor a pretty smile.

"Hello there."

Oh, see what you did there, Mohinder? Now he'll come over and talk to you. "Nice day?" Like he's not sure about it.

"Well, I think so." Mohinder is perfectly matter-of-fact. "Perfect weather. Glad I picked today to come outside."

After a couple hours of going back-and-forth about it, Gabriel is actually out and looking for Mohinder. He doesn't have to ask, no. Not at all. He just wants to give him the microscope he's found. And if the subject comes up, that will be fine. If not, that's fine, too (except it's not, but he'll cross that bridge when he gets to it).

His face breaks into a smile when he sees Mohinder under that tree. He doesn't know if he should disturb him, though- he looks like he's sleeping. Trying for some sort of compromise, he walks within ten feet or so and says, "Um. Hello?" very quietly.

Not sleeping, no--he's done far too much of that over the past few days. Just kind of...meditating.

All right, not meditating. It probably doesn't count as meditating if you're still thinking about work the whole time. Mohinder was never good at keeping his mind clear of stressful stuff. But Gabriel's voice snaps him out of it, and he looks up.

"Oh, hello, Gabriel." He smiles wearily, until he notices the microscope, and then he looks delighted.

"Hello." He smiles, looking pleased at Mohinder's reaction. "I was hoping to find you- obviously." He holds up the microscope, albeit carefully. "I checked the school, like you said. This one was in almost perfect condition. I was surprised." Now, of course, it is in perfect condition. Gabriel even painted over the scratch along the base.

"How has your work been coming?" There, that was good. Not too much, surely.

Mohinder takes the microscope with a bright grin and inspects it. It is perfect--of course, it's a high-school lab microscope, not exactly what he's accustomed to using, but it's certainly the best that's to be found around here now. "That's fantastic. I can't thank you enough."

He sets it carefully down beside him. "Well--"

He's afraid to say anything, lest his results turn out to be incorrect. He hasn't had time to double-check them, and his makeshift lab is anything but cutting-edge here. And aside from Charlie, Gabriel's the first person he's profiled.

"Sit down," he says, indicating the ground next to him.
