If Axel had known how to do that particular jutsu when he had to escape Midgar, as opposed to breaking in, it would have gone a long way to cutting the amount of humiliation he had to suffer. Considering the fact that he was a girl this time, and a very pretty one, and last time he had only dressed up as one... well, he felt like less of an idiot now than he did then.
He was happy, though. Saix seemed to thoroughly hate the effect of the Jutsu and that was always call for amusement, especially when he spoke.
"She'll probably be at the church," Axel said quietly. His voice, much like Saix's, was higher and softer than usual, but it didn't make him sound any less... coarse.
He had been uncomfortable since he had set foot in Midgar and it wasn't due to the obnoxious and oft-flickery lighting from the greenish floodlights affixed to the underside of the plate above or the close, hot, stagnant air. Seeing Shinra soldiers put him on edge, but he tried to keep that under control.
Saix nodded. The jutsu put him in a skirt, which he failed to appreciate, and appreciated even less when it got him looked at.
"Then lead the way," he said.
He'd never tried fighting in this form. It would probably slip if he had to, and that would lead to a range of other problems that Saix would rather not think about. Fortunately, the soldiers seemed largely uninterested in them. One or two had looked, but it had been in that manner of heterosexual men everywhere when confronted with attractive females and not in any dangerous way.
At least, not dangerous to Saix and Axel. Fortunately, the soldiers had no idea what they were eyeing up.
"I am leading the way," Axel said, trying to get his bearings. "Give me a moment, will you?"
It had been rather a long time since he had been in (or rather below) Midgar and, even then, he hadn't exactly had the time or inclination to leisurely enjoy the 'sights' or make much headway when it came to navigating the slums. That sort of thing was quite difficult when you were an escaped subject of the Shinra laboratories and had people chasing you to try and throw you back in a cage. Well, cell, but it had felt like a cage at the time.
"I will refrain from pointing out that time is not an expendable luxury for us," Saix said, in a low grumble.
The big event... they still had a day, from the rough timeline they were working from. As they'd got closer to Midgar, the news had featured the impending completion, and a ceremony to celebrate as the last pieces were slotted into place. It didn't say whether the head of Shinra would be present, which had drawn a raised eyebrow from Saix, but a ceremony meant a high turnout from SOLDIER, and Saix and Axel wanted to avoid that if they could.
The big event that no one else knew about was going to be after the completion of the plate. It would be best if they got out before that happened.
It wasn't just the big picture they had to be concerned with, of course, or that was Saix's immediate concern when he pushed Axel to think more quickly. "What is the crime rate in this vicinity?" He asked, watching movement that gave away someone skulking in shadows just a little way ahead of them.
