In which I am not particularly articulate, but I do make a longer post than usual.

First of all, I want to say how lucky and privileged I am to work a job where I can call in to work, say I am not coming in, not because I was injured but because someone else was injured and I spent a good portion of the night in the ER with them. That is amazing ( Read more... )

It's never a good thing to be reminded of what to be thankful for solely by the thought, "Well, it could be worse..."

I sympathise with Anthony's parents. Its terrible to watch loved ones age, and terrible to be old and feel one's body deteriorate. Hmm. I thought that Canada had a better medical care system than the one you describe. Looking North from Wisconsin & Minnesota, I think of Canada as a wonderland of sorts. Though of course, I understand that all is not perfect.

If you are a legal resident of Canada, you have the famed "free medical" available to you. While it isn't quite everything it is sometimes cracked up to be by optimistic Americans and patriotic Canadians, it sure helps when something unfortunate happens and you end up in the hospital ( ... )
