Okay, so I completely missed the partial solar eclipse that happened on the 1st August, although since it was cloudy, I don't think I missed much!

However, having just watched The Sky at Night (how is Sir Patrick Moore still alive - he's been old for about 30 years!) and they mentioned a couple of things

The one thing I know about astronomy is:
Rule no.1: it's always cloudy when some astronomical event happens... ;)

Not always! Just about 80% of the time! *g*

I've had some great times up in the middle of nowhere in Scotland in February (some of which were astronomy-related! ;)) where we could see the bands on Jupiter with just a set of binoculars. That was awesome!
