I love it, the contrast and the electric aura around the Patronus.
I sometimes get the feeling Rowling just got the idea of Snape & Lily's friendship around Book #5, and was told to keep it under wraps by the editor for surprise effect. Thus, no exploration of it.
She told Alan Rickman the truth before they started filming series, so I'd assume it must have happened earlier than her work on OoP. To which rather unusual Snape's insistence on saving Harry's skin every now and then could point. I suppose it could be one of the stuff she conveniently forgot to mention in the books... some of which she was later fixing in her interviews >.> Everything for the more white-black reality until the final truth is revealed >.>;
