Being the Pope seems to sober you up, doesn't it? Now I want to know how Shion was before Saga killed him.
Poor Regulus, though. That is one job that I wouldn't want anyone to have. Being alone for 200+ years is just one part of the problem.

Especially if you are the Pope for so many years? I guess that after some time it changes into torture - everyone you once knew and who knew you when you were still seen as a normal person is dead. You see people be born, grow, age and die in the end. It's impossible to not sober up :/
I think that Shion felt rather lonely :/ And very tired probably. To live with such responsibility... *shudder* Sadly, Kurumada never really focused on this aspect of the story.
You're right. When I was writing this story, I started to think that Regulus could be more affected by the job than any other Goldie would be. I think that his personality type is not quite the one that would deal with the situation easily.

Not necessarily. It might well be somebody who's looking the way to Atlantis in order to find what might be hidden there.

They both know that Regulus can’t stand being tied to one place and has never been pleased with the responsibility he is forced to bear. Poor guy. Sounds like his job is a hell of a torment then))
I liked this story a lot. Sorry I can't really say much (unfamiliar characters and all). But the name Regulus keeps causing a cognitive dissonance))) I keep thinking about Harry Potter)))

His job is specific - looking over the Sanctuary and making sure that once the time comes, there will be right people to fight the Great Danger TM (aka Hades). And that's what he's been doing for over 100 years in the fic ^^;

They both share the name of the same star XD But their personalities are completely different.
Why not to start reading The Lost Canvas again?
