oh, what a great show:) i used to watch it every day after school back in late elementary school. along with batman, mr. belvadere, rescue rangers, and ducktales, it holds a special place in my heart. i think one of my favorite episodes was one in which ... was it sarah or jamie from the new family? anyway, one of them had a slumber party, and one girl kept neighing like a horse:) it was very funny. hard to say whether i liked the pembrokes or the first family better... but seriously, what kind of show changes the entire cast save two after the first season or two? craziness...
ringu and ju-on probably don't make sense to you because they're japanese:) ringu is the original movie (and book, come to think of it, but i'm referring to the movie here) that the american film the ring was based on. i saw it about a year and a half ago while studying in england, and i found it to be the scariest movie (well, it was a double feature of that and ring 2) i'd ever seen. with the possible exception of ju-on:)
ju-on was originally a japanese made-for-tv movie, and was so popular that there came a sequel, then they were remade for the big screen. ju-on means "the grudge" or "the curse" i think. anyway, about vengeful ghosts, and it's very very scary:) it's being redone for american audiences this year. how they'll adapt it to make it more american, i don't know. sure will be interesting to find out though:)
And I'm very pleased to see that you're interested in Dictonaries. I love mine. It's fabulous, but the cover's bent. What I really need is an OED, or to pay for the OED website. Going to the library for that is so tedious.
tmbg is my nerdy was of saying i like they might be giants:) that an mst3k (mystery science theater 3000) really give me away as being pretty into them. most people know tmbg's songs off "flood," including songs like particle man and birdhouse in your soul. anybody who knows more than that likely knows all of their stuff:) their fans tend to be huge fans.
i asked for a dictionary for christmas my freshman year of college. mom and dad had tried to give me one for graduation, but it was a crappy little dictionary that didn't even have "obsequious" in it, so i said, no thanks:) instead, i hunted on amazon till i found one i thought looked good, and picked a big american heritage one. it's all full of etymologies and a lot of words. had i been an english major longer, looking back, i think i'd probably have gotten an oed. but i'm happy with the one i have:) i still remember how excited i was to get it:) and i started looking up words, just to see what it said. i guess it's moments like that when you know you're in the right major, huh?:)
